Raugh Furniture

1998

In thinking about possible support structures for the human body, Zittel encountered anthropological studies that suggest chairs do not actually offer the most comfortable seating position for the body. Raugh Furniture attempts to discover new ways in which to position the body; both spatially and socially. The first iteration of Raugh Furniture was carved out of large cubes of charcoal grey foam and follows all of the rules of Raugh, a comprehensive ideology which attempts to embrace human imperfection rather than reform it.
