Pattern Fields: Omnidirectional Pattern Spread

Pattern Fields play many roles in our lives — from the repeating patterns on the surfaces of our homes or clothing, to the patterns of information and time that are formatted into endless, repeating cycles. The series Omnidirectional Pattern Spread consists of ceramic tile installations that riff on these different systems of ordering. Often, they take weave drafts (patterns used for threading looms to make patterned cloth) as their initial inspiration, but they also evoke the incremental printing process of the inkjet printer, or the telltale signs of degraded digital imagery — sudden stripes or bands rather than integrated patterns.
